Visit by Queen Mary University of London

On the morning of October 12, Vice President of Queen Mary University of London Professor Morag Shiach, Professor Spyros Maniatis and Christine Zhou visited law school. Vice Dean Professor Zhu Yansheng welcomed the delegation. Weixiaolong, division director of Xiamen IP Office of Free Trade Zone, the Board Chairman of Xiamen Hedao Brand Management Group Co., Ltd Mr. Cai Chunhe, ssistant professor Dong Huijuan, faculty-based post doctor Zhu Dong and Zhou Lu from Intellectual Property Research Institute also attended the meeting.

Vice Dean Zhu Yansheng gave a brief introduction of the history, discipline structure and development of international cooperation of our law school and expressed his willingness to establish collaboration ties with QMUL in terms of students and faculty exchange and cooperation in research.

Vice President Morag Shiach introduced the development of QMUL and its current established cooperation projects with Chinese universities. She said QMUL has always given great support to the joint program and other forms of cooperation with universities in China and she is very much willing to cooperate with School of Law, Xiamen University in possible way.

Professor Spyros Maniatis is the director of the Centre for Commercial Law Studies. He expressed strong wish to co-establish an international intellectual property training base with School of Law, Xiamen University for the legal practitioners in Xiamen taking the geographical and policy advantage of the Xiamen Free Trade Zone. Professor Spyros Maniatis has also given great support to the 2015 International Conference on Innovation and Communications Law and 2015 International Intellectual Property Summer School hosted by IPRI, Xiamen University.

After the meeting, Vice Dean Zhu Yansheng accompanied the delegation to attend the meeing with Vice President Wu Daguang for further discussion of the cooperation in the future.

Queen Mary University of London is one of the UK's leading research-focused higher education institutions. With around 17,840 students, 4,000 staff and an annual turnover of £300m, it is one of the biggest University of London colleges.
