To improve quality of recruitment, XMU decided to go out and seek for competent teachers initiatively, and therefore had carried out two job fairs at NTU and NTS from November 10th to 11th. Fangqing Song, Dean of Law School, Shaosen Wang, Dean of School of Architecture and Civil Engineering, and Peiyong Wang, Director of Department of Powering Engineering in Aerospace Engineering School, as well as other faculty members, organized the job fairs.

Singapore, as a significant part of “the Belt and Road Initiatives”, especially of the “Maritime Silk Road”, is a place where most of Asian scientists assemble. It is remarkable that NTU and NTS rank 11th and 15th respectively on the QS World University Rankings.

Those job fairs, attracting over 120 young elites, had gained strong support given by several organizations, such as XMU Alumni Association, Singaporean Chinese Doctor and Scholar Association, and Singaporean Chinese Student Scholar Association. On the jobs fairs, the deans briefed candidates on XMU’s subject advantages, staff development and scientific research achievements, while expressing their longings and hopes for outstanding young talents. In addition, Yipeng Lan, the commissioner in Human Resources, gave applicants an introduction to policies of “Support Program for Nanqiang Top Talents of Youth” and “Admission Plan for Postdoctors”, etc. With the introduction and interaction, the recruitment team managed to raise applicants’ understanding of XMU and reached preliminary agreements with some of the candidates.

In the past few years, XMU has been making great efforts to bring in talents. By using different methods like “Talents Recommending Talents to XMU”, “Attracting Talents to XMU” and “XMU Seeking Out Talents”, XMU succeed proceeding the work of recruitment. In the next phase, XMU and its schools will continue to run campus talks overseas and go out seeking talents initiatively. In the meantime, forums will be organized frequently for young scholars in order to attract them to come visiting.
