REPORT FROM THE FIRST MEETING OF THE INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS UNION OF THE LAW SCHOOL.
On the Thursday 27th of October, the international students union of the Xiamen University Law School had its maiden meeting. Showing a high sense of patronage the union was able to gather 23 of the international students within the Law School for a very effective first meeting. With 5 of the gathered doctoral students and the rest of the 18 master’s students from both the civil & commercial and international law discipline the house had a fair representation of the student body in the law school.
The meeting which was chaired by the president of the union did not go beyond an hour as the agenda for discussion was quiet short and was dealt with straight to the point. Also in attendance were members of the staff Miss Dong, Mr Gao Bing and Miss Song. The presence of the members of staff carried a good message of the strong backing of the school authorities in the activities of the international students union.
Based on the agenda for the day, a committee was established for the planning of the end of year party for international students in the law school and also nominations were received for the moot court of the union. The union was duly introduced and at the end of the meeting tips were given by the legal adviser and the academic director of the union on how to write academic papers and prepare for presentations in the law school. The meeting went well and all were told to give their best in rightfully representing the law school in all activities. Also the house was encouraged to continue their patronage of events by the law school.
