For the implementation of the national innovation-driven development strategy, at the arrival of the 17th World Intellectual Property Day, Xiamen University held this year's Intellectual Property Publicity Week from April 16 to April 28, 2017, under the main theme "innovation & creation changes lives and intellectual property creates better future".
As part of the National IP Public Week and the celebrations of the World Intellectual Property Day 2017, the publicity week is aimed to enhance publicity of intellectual property and increase IP awareness of the society, especially the undergraduates and postgraduates.
The campaign, jointly organized by XMU Student Affairs Office, Science & Technology Ofiice, XMU Communist Youth League Committee, XMU Law School, XMU Law Society, XMU Intellectual Property Research Institute and National Intellectual Property training (Fujian) Base, features events within and without the campus, including lectures, competitions, panels display, interactive garden party, running up from April 16 to April 28.
These serial activities are also in support of Fujian Intellectual Property Administration, Xiamen Municipal Intellectual Property Bureau, Zhongzhen-Yinhua (Beijing) Intellectual Property Agent Ltd, Fujian Panton Law Firm and the Law Society of Jimei University.
Sanjia Village intellectual property garden party
April 28th, 2017, in Sanjia Village Square, the “intellectual property garden party" was carried out as scheduled. XMU deputy party secretary Lin Dongwei, XMULS deputy party secretary Zhou Lei, XMULS secretary of the communist youth league committee Gao Bin, XMULS deputy secretary of the communist youth league committee Lin Xurong, and XMULS postgraduate counselor Song Leihua attended the event.
The party was jointly carried out by the XMU Law Society and Intellectual Property Research Institute. The organizers designed a "Tell trademarks" and "See the title and guess the author”, "Intellectual Property Questions and Answers", "brand name questions" four fun games for teachers and students to participate, and by posing put panels, leaflets, bookmarks, and other forms for visitors to understand the basics of intellectual property.
Zhongzhen-Yinhua (Beijing) Intellectual Property Agent Ltd. and Fujian Panton Law Firm also set up a special Q&A center , volunteering to provide professional legal consult in IP.

The 2017 Xiamen Universities Yichen Cup IP Legal Knowledge Competition
In the evening of April 26th, the 2017 Xiamen Universities Yichen Cup IP Legal Knowledge Competition, co-hosted by Xiamen Municipal Intellectual Property Bureau, Jimei Science & Technology Office, Jimei University Law School and Jimei University Law School, was hold in the Jimei University Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall.
Five university teams, including from xiamen University, jimmy Univeristy, and , participated in the moot court competition.After 3 intense rounds of competition, the XMU team emerged as the runner-up, and Liang Yang won the title of “best debater”.
The “Extraordinary Lawyer” Academic Salon
In the evening of April 27th, the “Extraordinary Lawyer” academic salon, organized by the emu law society, was held in the C519 conference room. The organizers invited the partner of Fujian Panton Law Firm as the principle speaker and the XMUIPRI Post-doctorate Lecturer Zhu Dong as host.
This salon was in the core of trademark protection and management of enterprises. Mr. Chen and Dr. Zhu firstly shared their opinion on based on the analysis of two actual trademark cases, enhancing the students’ awareness of trademarks and other IPR protection. The participated students interacted with the guests in the following Q&A session actively, discussing the aim of IPR protection with Mr. Chen and Dr. Zhu.
For the implementation of the national innovation-driven development strategy, in recent years, Xiamen university laid more attention on the protection of intellectual property rights, and held lectures from time to time in various forms of intellectual property training course within the campus.
The Intellectual Property Publicity Week, based on innovation and entrepreneurship, focused on intellectual property rights, so that content-rich and targeted, made great strides in improving students' ability to protect intellectual property, but also got good social repercussions.
