Capt. Lee Fook Chuoon Presented Lecture Forwarders’ Nature, Risks and Legal Liability

On April 28 2017, Capt. Lee Fook Chuoon presented a lecture named Forwarders’ Liability in the C420 conference room l. Vice dean of Xiamen University Law School professor He Lixin also attended the lecture.


In the beginning, Capt. Lee explained the nature and risks attached to freight forwarders business, including the statutory regulations, the national and international law that should be subjected to, the correct procedure code, and the consignment liability and marine insurance for freight forwarder.


Then Capt. Lee provided the significance of the scope of coverage in the liability and marine insurance. In this part he focused on the concepts of custom broker, the trucking companies and the adequate limits in international freight forwarding.

In the latter part of this lecture, Capt. Lee concentrated on the risk controls from freight forwarders perspective and gave ten tips to the freight forwarders, which are refinement from his profound international freight forwarding practice.

Capt Lee Fook Choon, Master Mariner, LLM, FCIArb, ACII, Chartered Arbitrator, Chartered Insurance Practitioner, a marine loss adjuster and insurance recovery consultant since 1978 and maritime arbitrator since 1994.


He is a panel arbitrator with HKIAC, SIAC, Singapore Chamber of Maritime Arbitration, Regional Arbitration Centre (Kuala Lumpur), Beijing Arbitration Commission, China Maritime Arbitration Commission and the approved tutor with the UK Chartered Institute of Arbitrators.


As an insurance loss adjuster, he had handled or supervised the handling of more than 9000 marine hull, cargo and general insurance claims spanning over 35 years acting on behalf of regional, London and Scandinavia insurers.
