On October 15 2016, Xiamen University School of Law witnessed her 90th anniversary and over 2700 alumni from the world back to the beautiful seashore campus for the celebration. At 9:00 in the morning, the celebration ceremony was held in Jiannan Auditorium of Xiamen University.
Professor Xu Xianming, member of the Standing Committee of National People's Congress, deputy chairman of the Law Committee of National People's Congress, chairman of the China's Jurisprudence Society and chairman of the Law Education Steering Commission of Education Ministry; Mr. Li Lianning, alumni, deputy chairman of the Law Committee of National People's Congress; Professor Huang Jin, deputy chairman of the China's Law Society and President of China Political and Law University; Professor Pan Jianfeng, Board Chairman of Peking Universty Law School; Professor Spyros Maniatis, Director of Centre for Commercial Law Studies, Queen Mary University of London; Mr. Zhang Yan, Board Chairman of Xiamen University; Professor Zhu Chongshi, President of Xiamen University; Professor Song Fangqing, Dean of the Xiamen University School of Law and many other professonals and scholars attended the ceremony. Chairman of the Board of School of Law at Xiamen University hosted the ceremony.
Dean Professor Song Fangqing made the opening remarks. She looked back the history of the School and the achievements made in these years in terms of research, education and acedemics. The School today has grown into an important base for the education of legal professionals in China and contributed so much in the progress of the rule of law in the country. In the future, the School would build on the 90 years history and continue to work on the promotion of rule of law and better of legal system.
President Zhu Chongshi extended his warm congratulations to the 90th anniversity to the School. He said, China is in need of better legal education and more high quality legal professionals. He expected that the School could insist its tradition and history to contribute more to the great rejuvenation of China.
