During Jan. 26th to 28th, a team was sent out by XMU Law School to Taipei to participate in 2018 PwC International Tax Competition, comprising Deputy Prof. Qiu Dongmei, the manager of the  team, Wang Yameng and Jin Baihe, postgraduates of Finance and Taxation, as well as Cui Ruixin and Lin Dashan, undergraduates of XMU Law School.

There was a sum of ten teams competing with each other, six of which were from universities in Taiwan, such as National Chung Cheng University, Taipei University, and National Taipei University of Business. The rest were from universities in mainland China, including Shanghai University of Finance and Economics, Fudan University, Zhongnan University of Economics and Law, and Xiamen University. Remarkably, XMU Law School Team was the only one whose members were all law major, while members of other teams studied Finance and Economics as their majors.

On 27th, the competition was kicked off at 9 o’clock at PwC Taiwan. It consisted of two parts, confined discussion and brief report. Each team was distributed a seminar room for a 3-hour discussion and preparing for their final report after case study materials had been disclosed. In the afternoon, the competition proceeded to the second phase where participants illustrated their report to audience and answered a series of questions raised by judges.

During the competition, XMU Law School students were very articulate and demonstrated their ideas and opinions properly, showing great team work and leaving judges a professional impression. Eventually, XMU Law School Team won the championship in the competition.
