On the morning of July 22 2016, Dean Prof. Michael Hor, Head of Law Department Prof. Fu Hualing and Head of Law Department Prof. Zhao Yun visited our school. Dean Prof. Song Fangqing welcomed the guests. Vice Dean Prof. Zhu Yansheng, Assistant Professor Qiu Dongmei and International Coordinator Dong Xiaoqing participated in the meeting.
Dean Song Fangqing extended her warm welcome to Dean Michael Hor and the delegate. She said that HKU law faculty is one of the most prestigious law faculties internationally which attracts many law students and scholars around the world. XMU law school has witnessed a history of 90 years. We have achieved a lot in teaching, faculty building, research, social service and internationalization. International law is the national key discipline, other disciplines all provincial key ones such as roman law, legislative science, fiscal and tax law, constitutional law with their own distinctiveness and advantages. XMU law school ranked the tenth in the 2012 national first-level discipline evaluation.
The two faculties have shared a good basis of cooperation. Many faculty members and students from Xiamen have visited HKU Law Faculty for research and study, including doctor Qiu Dongmei. There are some teachers who have come to Xiamen for academic exchange from HKU law faculty as well. We have the honor to have Professor Zhao Yun currently as the chair professor of Chen An international law. She hopes the visit of the delegate will be a good start to build on a closer partnership between the two faculties concerning student exchange, visiting scholars and joint research.
Dean Michael Hor made a brief introduction of the Faculty of Law, the University of Hong Kong and the will to cooperate with Xiamen. On the existed sound basis of cooperation, he would like to build a platform for the exchange on the two sides in order to deepen the understanding of students in HKU to the mainland and the Chinese Law.
After the meeting, the two sides exchanged the gift and took the group photo together.
