Welcome to the School of Law at Xiamen University! We are a dynamic community that is committed to providing students with an outstanding legal education that trains students to become outstanding law professionals and leaders in their chosen field.
The XMU School of Law was started in 1926. With 90 years of development, the School has fostered generations of legal professionals, maintained a high standard of academic achievements, and gathered together a batch of brilliant scholars and educators. Our programs cover Bachelor of Law, Master of Law, Juris Master and SJD, and our Continuing Legal Education Program offers courses for professional development.
The School of Law has a strong body of faculty who have published widely in international journals and have contributed actively to the development of the jurisprudence of China. Legal practitioners and other industry professionals are involved in our teaching.
We are one of China’s leading law schools—in the most recent national assessment, we were placed tenth among nearly 650 law schools in China. We work closely with the legal profession, corporations, government agencies, and the community, with many legal education and practice bases established in courts and law firms in Shanghai, Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Xiamen and many other cities across China for our students.
Our student population of nearly two thousand is comprised of students from more than fifteen countries and regions, and, in recent years, we have seen more and more international students join us in the master and doctoral programs here. Our alumni include leaders in all branches and all levels of government, in academia, in companies and nonprofit organizations domestically and around the world. The alumni networks serve as an invaluable resource in offering networks of colleagueship and friendship among graduates.

Xiamen University follows a tri-semester academic calendar, with autumn, spring and summer semesters as follows:
Autumn semester: mid-September – end of January
Spring semester: mid-February – mid-June
Summer semester: mid-June – end of July
Winter vacation: end of January – mid-February
Summer vacation: end of July – beginning of September
Teaching hours: Monday – Friday: 08:00-11:50, 14:30-17:30
